Can’t remember if I saw it here or elsewhere, but when people talk about how things have gone downhill it might be useful to ask them to pick a time when they would most like to live in-if they don’t get to choose their race, gender or where they live.

Being a Roman citizen in pax romana wouldn’t have been a bad time or place. You could safely travel the known world because your government would obliterate anyone else who killed its citizens. Good enough for second place, probably. (also, it’s not like we have reached a Utopian world - being a woman in Saudi Arabia today isn’t a great spot to be)
