I hear the sound of gun fire most days in the late afternoon and evening.

Place I used to live was about a mile from an active quarry to the south and two miles from an active quarry to the north. Visitors would jump as the windows rattled, we’d wonder what spooked them.

The really loud bangs came from the weapons testing range a couple of miles to the west where they fired off 155mm artillery shell test charges on a Tuesday afternoon.
