The American left actively opposed US involvement in WWII until Hitler invaded Russia. Overnight they became fervent supporters of American intervention on the side of the Allies (e.g., the Soviets and only incidentally the British). Those were their instructions from Moscow.

The Communists were on the fence until Hitler invaded Russia, but many more lefty-liberals in the US were anti-Nazi. My (Jewish, obviously) family pre-WWII was very liberal and very anti-Nazi, and believed then that only liberals were sufficiently anti-Nazi. [I’m a boomer baby, and this was told to me by my elders] Many liberals today consider themselves anti-fascist, and a video such as this could be a cold-shower wake up call.
