I know some here have been lambasted for suggesting this was a dumb move. But I have to agree. Regardless of the situation and substance of the conversation…this was a terrible unforced error.

What is the hell were they both thinking? Knowing the political climate, it was really stupid.

I agree. Completely foreseeable. And not just a problem regarding wingnuts; people like me who moved from Bernie to Hillary had a problem with the Clintons to begin with over just this kind of tin-ear understanding of political currents.
