I’m one of the lucky people here with a sweetwater spring-fed well.
Other people in the county who have shallow dug wells have saltwater or sulfur water.
The saltwater is a result of a bunch of large naturally-occurring salt domes (where wildlife find natural salt licks)
The sulfur water used to be bottled and sold at the various nearby “health spa/resorts” back in the 1800s and early 1900s.

In our central FL county, well water came from the FL aquifer and was so good that our county was well known by the feds for production of moonshine.

When visiting folks on the west coast of FL in the 1950s, you got sulfur water until the municipal water system came to their neighborhood.
