When I was in 9th grade, the “Science” teacher was talking one day about how cars used to be built better and how back in the day he’d seen a car hit a guardrail dead on at 50 mph and get barely a scratch.
I got in trouble because I couldn’t convincingly pretend to believe him.
What your “science” teacher neglected to say is that the driver/passengers were turned into goo in that sudden stop without modern seat belts and impact absorbers, such as collapsible steering columns, air bags, and padded dashes.
