The day I took the car service to Treblinka, it snowed all day. There were no other tourists at the site, just the old gentleman who maned the little ticket booth/book store.
I was the only person in the field, over 17,000 rocks placed all over, each one with a name of a city where the Jews were removed from.
A brown rabbit followed me around for about an hour, probably hoping for a handout. I had nothing for him. I wonder if he realized that he was bounding around on the ashes of over a million people.
I did.
