You ever notice how much the posting membership of this site has dropped and how slow the threads have become compared to when we actually had people to argue with instead of just agreeing with ourselves?

That might be true to a small extent, but from looking at the other sites that I could label as American “contemporary issue” websites there seems to be a decrease in comments written overall.

This is part of a trend with which blog owners, who are in it for the business and not for the pleasure/self-education, must deal.

Over the past couple of years analysts have indicated the doom of “blogging” because of the ascent of short message texting, mainly Twitter but the others also.

Note too that the traditional print media continues to struggle, including their attempts at online subscriptions. More sites are going to limited free viewing (usually N views per month before one has to pay) in an attempt to make money, as they know they are peaking in actually growth.

As for KT - he can take care of himself, I am quite confident.

As for groupthink - I don’t believe it’s as strong here as a few have raised as a concern. Sure, the number of different commenters here was greater in 2008, but a great number of creationists were run off, then the gun fetishists were expunged, and then finally the anti-Moslem haters got the boot.

Ultimately, I expect, blogs will slowly quiesce, not unlike USENET and online forums did, and slowly cool down like white dwarf stars do (though they take tens of billions of years!)
