I can’t say. The car did not swerve. The “driver” sure wasn’t paying attention. Can’t tell if the car’s horn blew.

I’ll bet I might have avoided her (a slight swerve would have done it). I can’t say for others, I have fast reactions. (I halted and swerved when a mountain lion ran in front of us coming home from Cheyenne last night, and a mountain lion is significantly smaller than a woman with a bicycle.)

But didn’t you also hit a deer not too long ago? Shit can come out of nowhere fast and safety isn’t measured well at the individual level. On aggregate self driving cars are already much safer than the typical human driven vehicle and AI capability is progressing exponentially.
