OT: a bird got into my house a sparrow I think. Right now it is in my basement and it is flying around down there. Does anyone have any ideas of how to get it out of my house? There are no cats and the only way out is through my living room and kitchen.

We had a young mockingbird fall down our chimney a few years ago. We covered all the windows and opened a patio door, and then backed off. Fortunately, it got the hint and went for the light.
Otherwise, I suppose you could try netting it, but you might injure it in the attempt.
