In California, there seem to be so many propositions, taxes and bonds put to the voters that the primaries are used for this in addition to general elections. I do my part to discourage this practice.
I havenโt had much opportunity to vote until I moved to Nebraska at the end of 2012. I was disenfranchised in Oklahoma due to recently moving there, and in South Carolina due to being homeless before I moved to Oklahoma.
Ballot referenda here are difficult to get on the ballot. The only other one I have voted on was the minimum wage rise in Nebraska (it passed by a wide margin). That surprised the local political pundits, and the GOP came out strongly against it.
