And this idea of “deport them all now” that’s been going on since Reagan will ensnare more US citizens.

The article notes more than eight hundred citizens have been detained by ICE. It is illegal for ICE to detain Americans.

Moreover, a little known fact about immigration detention: While a suspected undocumented immigrant is not eligible to receive counsel at the state’s expense, neither is an American citizen.

Yunno, in Germany and in most of Europe (excluding the UK) every citizen has an ID card that identifies them as such. It is necessary in order to register an address (which is also mandatory), open a bank account, sign a lease, enroll children in school, obtain a driver’s license, etc.

It also serves a proof of voter registration.

Having such a system in place would make it a lot harder for people to simply sneak into the country and establish themselves outside the system. It might even make building a wall superfluous.

Any takers out there?
