re: #236 Killgore Trout

According the Paulian interpretation the Fed is unconstitutional. Ron Paul makes no secret about the fact that his long range plan is to abolish the Fed so we can go back to the gold standard for currency. This is his first step to bog down the Fed, harass it with audits until it fails.

Well, I wouldn’t support an audit with the intent to harass the Fed nor to cause it to fail. Additionally, I wouldn’t support it to revert to a gold standard.

U.S. Constitution - Article 1 Section 8 citation:

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

Now since it says that congress “shall” have the power it can also be argued that they are also able to “contract” out this power to their choosing which I believe they did in 1933? Is it right for them to transfer this responsibility of congress to other Federal agencies?
