re: #240 razorbacker

Well, back from my excursion into the dreaded maw of the uncaring health care machine.

Naturally, since I had no appointment, that money-grubbing doctor kept me waiting for almost twenty minutes *wail. tooth-gnashing*

The nurse insisted on weighing me, even though I assured her that once the doctor pulled that thing out of my knee I’d weigh pounds less. Drat her. Insisted on taking my blood pressure even though I assured her that it was highly elevated from the excruciating pain I was in (126/72. I may live, yet)

Doc came in and had me hop onto the table on my stomach (bit of a perv, that sawbones, don’t you think?) He said, “Yah, you couldn’t reach this yourself, could you?” and took one of those thingys that you use to get a hook from a deeply-hooked fish and pulled out the offending stitch. Slathered on a bit of antibacterial cream and gave me my choice of a Transformers band-aid or the plain kind. I was feeling pretty stylish so I went with the Transformers. The kids at Wal-Mart were green with envy. Made it worthwhile.

I’ll bet that it’ll go much better once single-payer health care comes into effect.

Maybe I should have done that last Thursday. I had a bad reaction to my allergy shot from Wednesday, and I tried to be polite and handle it over the phone. They never once asked me to come in, nor did they offer any drugs for me to take. I was all in all not pleased with the reaction.
