I’m quite happy that I’m no longer fertile and had my tubes permanently tied in 1974.

It was the best decision I ever made, even though drs up until that time would not allow me to have the procedure because I might “marry and want more children”, as though I didn’t know my own mind and wasn’t intelligent enough to make that decision.

Yet a beautiful young Puerto Rican woman I had met 2 yrs earlier at work was forced to have the same procedure at 19 yrs of age after her second child—the same age I was when I had my second child, too. We discussed the reasons for that at length.
