You could substitute any Central American nation’s name for “Syria” in the arguments you’re hearing from the GOP and it would be indistinguishable from what we heard last year. “Fears” over refugees being infiltrators, worry over resources being plundered, diseases being spread, and Republican governors declaring loudly that they would not allow refugees to be resettled in their states.
