What that government did was why free speech is so important. No modern country should be able to jail citizens for speaking out against their own government without the rest of the world letting them know how vile an act it is. Whether that message is sent by a government of an individual is irrelevant.

The message that Putin’s action was wrong is legitimate, entirely so. But it should not be expressed via property destruction.

Put another way, Killgore: If an “Occupy” group took a chainsaw to cross, regardless of what type of land it was on, would you still be nice about it?
