re: #254 Blind Frog Belly White
Unless it’s a bigass finned aluminum heatsink, it probably won’t help.
One time it hit me, I was about 2 miles from home, and the heat was just unrelenting. I stopped to cool off, but it just made it worse. A nice young woman stopped and asked if I wanted some water. I said, “Yes, but not to drink. Let me pour it on my head!”
She thought I was nuts, because EVERYBODY thinks dehydration. But really it’s not that. It’s just hard for someone my size to dump heat. A splash of water makes a HUGE difference.
It’s all about the lost electrolytes.
Except when you’re just too damned hot.
Worst headache I ever had was on a long ride on a hot day in the middle of Kansas. The UPS driver we had crossed paths with several times that day got out of his browns and into his blues and loaded a cooler with apples and beer. We had run out of water (the only time ever!) and I drank a beer way too fast and didn’t recover until the next day.
