Keep in mind that Obama wasn’t educated in the US for the most part. I believe he moved to Hawaii when he was 10 (1971) and was not educated on mainland America until he was in college. I doubt Hawaii had an abundance of US History experts at that time considering Hawaii had only been a state since 1959 - little more than a decade earlier.

I believe this is why he appears so disconnected with the average American and our history.
