I tried a 16” reflector in San Jose, California 10 years ago; it soaked up every stray photon from headlights, streetlights, reflections off clouds, and every light source imaginable. Massive light bucket but not good in a metropolitan area.

That’s the problem with large telescopes. Down here people have to live in the mountains or the desert to make use of them.
