Nicehash, a service for people who want to mine Bitcoin, was hacked to the tune of $60+ million a couple of days ago. Their security was lacking, and the thieves just extracted all the Bitcoin they could.
The weak points in the Bitcoin system are the end users. If the user does not protect his assets, hackers will find a way to steal them, either by brute force or phishing attacks. And once the Bitcoin is gone, there is no getting it back.
Exchanges are also weak points, because as Willie Sutton once said, that’s where the money is.
