ORANGE CITY, Fla. — Police said a paving machine ran over and killed a construction worker in Florida.

Orange City police Lt. Jason Sampsell told news outlets 72-year-old Ulysses Tolbert was driving the machine Tuesday when he fell off and was partially run over. The Deltona man had been applying asphalt for a parking lot at a medical facility under construction.

Sampsell said Tolbert’s fellow workers tried to get the machine off him. Authorities were called and pronounced him dead at the scene.
