Well, what would you like him to say? What he said is pretty much what he had to say.

He might try the truth, that we in the US can expect several minor leaks and spills, and at least one major spill, during the lifetime of this pipeline. That Canada wishes to gamble with our fresh water supply so that they can pipe their noxious sludge across our territory and to refineries that will sell their products in Europe and Asia.
