Wow, my governor’s office has a fantastic statement about John McCain (a press release, Pete Ricketts didn’t even want to be bothered with a proclamation):

LINCOLN - Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued a statement following news that U.S. Senator John McCain passed away at the age of 81.

“Our country has lost a great patriot who dedicated his life to serving our country in our military and then in the U.S. Senate. Our prayers and condolences are with the McCain family.”

Wow. Two whole sentences. Betcha it took his press person all of thirty seconds to write that. No proclamation, no half-mast notice.
