It is really interesting to see the difference with the Dem’s troubles in the past. The Democrats had trouble with weak, boring and unlikable candidates. They still allowed idiots loons like Al Sharpton and Dennis Kucinich around. They fumbled and floundered but never wasted so much time and effort on an entire crop of unelectable extremists and idiots. The GOP is just completely rudderless.

In a field with Kucinich and Sharpton were -

Gneeral Wesley Clark, Rep Gephardt, John Kerry, Howard Dean, Carol Mosely-Braun, Joe Lieberman & John Edwards.

Edwards had personal problems.
Clark - solid.
Dean - Screamed once, but was a sensible pro-gun democrat.
Gephardt - Hardly a Kucinich figure.
Mosely-Braun - fiercely intelligent and wonderfully sensible.
Lieeberman - right wing democrat.

The 2004 Democratic field is a shining beacon of sanity in a time when the base of the party was consumed by Bush loathing.
