Hot takes are really hot… and wrong. It’s what they do.

One thing I notice all these “GQP came out ahead!” takes are really trying hard to ignore is that Newsom didn’t just win by almost 2/3 the vote, he’s pretty much in the ballpark for his blowout win in ‘18. And he’s facing reelection next year, while the GQP still has to go through the process of deciding on who they want to see ritualistically slaughtered by him next November.

So far, the only thing that the whole affair seems to have done is burn $300m of taxpayer money and make a whole lot of political consultants just that much richer.
