Hey jcm, great post but I don’t think it’s most Americans. Not by a long shot. Those 1,310,000 DEAD Americans had families, and friends and some had children and even grandchildren. Memorial Day ought to - and I believe it does - commemorate those who died AFTER leaving the service from combat injuries or illnesses incurred while in a war zone. And I’d wager that those people weren’t included in your figures either.
And, of course, how many LIVING VETERANS are there who would never forget to properly observe Memorial Day?
I hope your right.
I look around and see the day being trivialized.
