And I’ll chime in with Czech firearms laws. You can own a firearm here…..it’s not so free and easy as in the USA, but these kind of atrocities are exceedingly rare here.

I have a few students who have a concealed carry permit - and there isn’t one of them I wouldn’t trust with a firearm.

See, here’s the problem: in many states, you don’t have to prove proficiency or responsibility with the weapon to own them. Any nut with money and time to wait can get one without having to prove you can use it or prove you can be responsible for it. And what states that have those requirements have seen them pared back, all for the sake of ‘freedom’.
