When DDT use was limited, it had already lost effectiveness in many places due to overuse. The Right likes to paint it as “They banned DDT, and then malaria came back with a vengeance!”, but actually the mosquitoes and the malaria were already coming back, because they’d carpetbombed with the stuff and the ‘skeeters - inevitably - became resistant, which made it useless even for residential spraying.

If they’d stuck with using it in homes, they could still be using it. But you know people - anything worth doing is worth overdoing.

Are you forgetting the amount of damage DDT did to birds and wildlife…and that it is a carcinogen?

That had a lot to do with its banning I believe.
