Which respects? EMP weapons are very real, and have some scary potential.
Rail guns use EM pulsing to accelerate projectiles to orbital velocities and are also real.

I’ve heard that there is concern that a nuclear weapon could be snuck into the US via a cargo container,attached to a scud missile, shot into the atmosphere above the US, which would cause an emp. It would shut down our power grid. Apparently it has been discussed in congress.
