I’m not being generous, only cynical. I don’t want these people or any fundies to adopt, but belief in telepathy or demons is no more or less justified than belief on homeopathy or gods.

On that we agree, but these kids were potentially in an abusive situation. Their adoptive parents were clearly not able to deal with the kids, and the state should have stepped in and removed the children.

There is no magical balance fairy when it comes to child welfare.
