I actually said something similar back in 2000, that “things had to get worse before they could get better.” That was literally my rationale for voting for Nader, I though Gore was a joke and even though I hated Bush even more I wasn’t thinking at all about the people who would suffer, and as it turns out die, under Bush. It was easily one of the most naïve, regrettable and immature positions I’ve ever held.
