I’m old school on ship names. Subs should be fish (pre 688 class) or city names (688 and forward). Surface ships, especially cruisers, LHCs, and CVs should be battle names, follow prior named ships, or at least wait until the person is deceased before naming.

That last bit is one thing that bothers me about current naming rules. Time was, the ships were named only posthumously. No more.
