Oddly enough, I actually think that had Perry not screwed up so badly in the beginning, he might have gone farther. I’m convinced that a large part of Romney’s problem is that he has virtually no charisma. He’s not personable in any fashion outside his own social circle and it shows every time he’s in public amongst the unwashed masses. A far more charismatic candidate, even if his policies were as vague and bland as Romney’s, might actually have a chance to win.
