No, its not too late. But Mitt will need guys like Newt and Ralph Reed to go around to people who lead organizations within the Republican base and explain Romney’s debate strategy. They need to be told that he’s not going to ignore them, but they need to let him lay out some policy guidelines on economics. They need to be told that if they want the GOP in the White House they’re going to need to defend Romney to the followers.

Yes, it’s too late. The RNC was a national spotlight on the campaign. That was the moment when people were paying attention. The only other time that most voters will look again is during the debates.

Everything else you’re talking about should have happened a long time ago. Six weeks before the election and right before the debates is NOT the time to start talking about these things.
