Freepers seem to be hanging their hopes on the fact that Gallop had a poll showing Carter well ahead of Reagan in the last weeks before the election. Of course they ignore the overwhelming numbers showing that Reagan had taken a lead back in May and never really lost it. Add in the hostage crisis and Carter never had a chance.
