I doubt that you’re cold-hearted. We give to some charities, as I’m sure you probably do.
But it is my choice to do so.

Some people like taking your money and redistributing it to the *cough* charities *cough* of their choice. All the while not giving squat of their own money away.

I Have a soft spot for animals. ;)
