Sure. And they can teach their kids that the Earth is really 6,000 years old, and Evolution is just a myth.

Guess what, not all home schooling is done in order to instill certain religious teachings or bad science or other things like that.

I know a number of families and situations where the public school system did not have programs geared to help highly functional autistic children, who are very very smart, but have certain problems that make it nearly impossible to be schooled in a normal public school setting.

And so these parents home schooled these children, working along with suggested techniques from professionals on educating children of this type. In particular I am talking about children with Aspergers Syndrome.

Not all home schooled children fits the model you defined.
