Oh also, since the people in question are safely gone so I can say it without getting in a fight…
People talking about hunting being part of the circle of life, or how hunters really don’t like to kill freak me the fuck out.
I feel better now :D
As I said earlier, hunting is a sport and a clean kill is a positive part of it. Eating what one kills does elevate the hunt into a part of the circle of life. I think there are ethical hunters and there are unethical ones. There are some who kill animals out of necessity, and I am sure that some of those really don’t like to kill yet feel compelled to do.
I am not a hunter but am an avid angler, and I practice catch-and-release i.e. I keep only what I will eat. I feel no guilt about killing a fish and then eating it, but neither do I derive any particular pleasure from the kill. I am just thankful that I get the chance to enjoy this traditional activity and to occasionally enjoy a delicious, freshly killed meal.
