re: #278 HappyWarrior
I mean I don’t begrudge someone the right to celebrate great great grandpa who fought with the Army of Northern Virginia. Silly, I think since the CSA’s cause was not honorable or moral but that’s your right but a state doing it. Me? I choose to be proud of my German born great great grandfather who fought for the Union. He was more a loyal American than anyone who fought for the CSA was.
There is a big difference between individuals who fought for the CSA out of a sincere but perhaps misguided sense of loyalty, and the cynical plantation owners and politicians who sent them to war for an inhumane ideology.
