That must have cost a fortune. Unfortunately since no federal law mandates insurance companies pay for prophylactic mastectomies most women will be at the mercy of their plan’s actuary. Not to mention being able to afford all the missed work for the actual procedures and recovery. I applaud her for coming forward, but it does highlight the disparity class and wealth bring in terms of healthcare options.
