Indeed. I was thinking of the flight of Apollo 10 months earlier, which had tested the LEM above the lunar surface in preparation for Apollo 11’s landing.

Got looking at Apollo 8 and ran into this, so I thought I’d share it before going off to bed…

074:50:07 Borman: Okay. This is to Rod Rose and the people at St. Christopher’s, actually to people everywhere. Give us, O God, the vision which can see thy love in the world in spite of human failure. Give us the faith to trust the goodness in spite of our ignorance and weakness. Give us the knowledge that we may continue to pray with understanding hearts, and show us what each one of us can do to set forth the coming of the day of universal peace. Amen.

He was originally scheduled to be a reader at his parish’s Christmas eve service but was a bit busy that night. They chose to have him read it from out there for recording and playing at the church service. As someone who enjoys being part of my church I find it tickles me and hope others get some fun from it.
