I don’t much like what Sony did, but:

1) The ocean was a very good barrier when The Great Dictator came out.

2) The chains are afraid of reducing sales of all movies at one of their most critical times, if people get spooked.

We may hope that they’ll release it after the holidays. Although I’ve heard it’s pretty terrible.
