Yes. Bachmann isn’t the type to recognize this for the defeat it is. She’ll think everything is fine and keep right on charging at Perry to no effect but to make herself look crazy.

The really sick part was what Sarah Palin of all people reminded the FNC audience after the debate: Bachmann had a good angle of attack on the issue of cronyism, where there are serious questions about Rick Perry. But instead of pursuing that sane angle, she made a sharp turn onto Nutcase Avenue and ended up with her words as crazy as her eyes.

That’s the cosmic joke it all, that Sarah’s got a better political head on her shoulders than Bachmann, but lacks the same sort of conviction to see things through. I honestly believe that, had she taken a presidential run seriously, and not as a means to continue milking the rubes, she could have been at least a contender. May not have won the nomination, but she’d given the eventual winner a real run for his/her money.

Instead, she’s slowly burning out, seemingly relegated to being a voice on FNC. And Bachmann’s practically destined to either flame out spectacularly, Dean-style, or slowly flicker and fade into nothingness.
