Yeah, well, agreed. But it’s the system we’ve got. Since it works pretty well, I can’t see dying on that particular hill.
But YMMV. Any suggestions to improve the existing system would be welcome. It’s a decent discussion topic.
I think the most practical path forward is massive expansion of representation. 21 SCOTUS justices representing 21 circuits. A House of 1200 or so. The Senate, as ever, is more intractable. Could you make a case for 4 or 5 Senators per state? Maybe, though you’d need an amendment to the Constitution that’s probably impossible.
