This reminds me of things I’ve read about Eisenhower’s deportation operation.

You’re referring to the unfortunately named “Operation Wetback”?

They did zero investigation to find the legally deportable; they just drove trucks into Mexican neighborhoods, grabbed up people shopping in the supermarket, picnicking in the park, waiting for a bus…

Then drove the trucks a few hundred miles south of the border and dumped everyone in the desert with no supplies. Dozens died. Some of whom were citizens.
