Trump is the standard for Republicans. They’ve had much lower standards than the rest of us for a long time now.

And yet, sadly, it’s enough to get you elected with our system that favors small states, which are conservative. There are more than enough people that consider helping minorities to be a greater threat than barging in on teenagers or stalking them at a mall. So, while we have to try to maintain the highest standards we can, the reality is that that’s not enough to win elections.
