They didn’t want the tough and insightful responses of Clinton who said there aren’t easy answers for folks who can’t afford to move from where the jobs have disappeared to where they are being created. It takes time to reinvent a community, as Pittsburgh has done, and that city has all kinds of advantages such as universities of renown and cultural centers that can attract people to them. Not every town or even city has that.

And telling people that coal is coming back, or that steel tariffs will save their shuttered steel mill is just flat out lying. Trump tapped into fact that people would rather hear the confirmation bias than the hard truths.

Hillary faced ruthless attacks from the MSM as well as the FBI efforts to derail her, but her failure to visit the 3 states(WI, MI, PA) certainly contributed to her loss. OTOH, Trump also gave some very effective speeches during the campaign, where he didn’t rant about immigrants and POC or demonize others, but instead expressed empathy toward the working class.

Broken record here: No party has figured out how to replace the good jobs lost to off-shoring and technology. Andrew Yang may be getting a boost because he is serious about this issue — but he hasn’t found a real solution either. Trump gave his audience a false hope and the MSM failed to do its job to inform the audience that he had never been anything more than a con man.
