Will you PLEASE tell him that “holding current growing areas fixed” means that they did not calculate how much can be derived from land that is not currently being farmed?

I tried for hours one night to tell him that the sentence, as written, applies to the study in broad fashion. I’ve had more luck telling my kids not to get sand on their feet at the beach…
