Despite his ideological differences from me, I often found reading Christopher Hitchens’ writing to be a joy. He was always the hardest on assholes and fanatics who thought they should be allowed to control other people. He was also, as the passage you quoted demonstrates, a master in the art of “cutting your opponent’s throat without raising your voice”.
